Healthy Yard Workshop

The Pala Environmental Department announces the Healthy Yard Workshop on Thursday, September 14, 2023, either 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Pala Admin Building. *The later session is a repeat of the earlier session for people to attend after work.

Topics

Waterwise Garden Design – how to work with the yard you have and learn how to design a nice landscape, use native/low-water plants that invite hummingbirds/butterflies in, when/how to plant, and how to irrigate.  We’ll also show you some good organic fertilizers & safer pest-control options to use around your yard.

How To Compost – This is a compost 101 overview; we’ll show the different types of composters you can use, what types of materials go into your composter, how to troubleshoot any issues, and why you should even compost in the first place.
