Coping with Crisis: Building Psychosocial Resilience in the Face of Climate Change (For Tribal Environmental Staff)
Wednesday, June 17, 2020, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Climate change is putting Southern California’s tribal communities at an increased risk for heat, drought, severe weather, and wildfires. As tribal environmental professionals, it is our job to understand these risks and help develop plans for adapting to climate change threats. Addressing the mental and emotional impacts of climate change is an important part of developing individual and community psychosocial resilience. The Pala Environmental Department’s Tribal Climate Health Project team invites you to attend a professional training webinar where you can learn and share techniques to protect emotional health and wellness as part of your climate change adaptation planning. This training features expert guest speaker, Dr. Douglas Walker (Licensed Psychologist), who will conduct a training on non-clinical strategies tribal staff and partner agencies can use to build psychosocial resilience on tribal lands to better cope, connect, and recover before, during, and after a disaster.
