Announcement: Disaster Mitigation Survey
Update: 10/13/20. Notice: Draft Pala 2020 Hazard Mitigation Plan and Comments – Post
PALA, CA – The Pala Band of Mission Indians and the Pala Environmental Department are requesting that the community participate in the Disaster Mitigation Survey.
Disaster Mitigation Survey
The Pala Band of Mission Indians and the Pala Environmental Department are currently engaged in a planning process to become less vulnerable to disasters caused by natural hazards, and your participation is important to us.
The Pre-Disaster Mitigation Planning Committee is working on an update to the Tribe’s Hazard Mitigation Plan. The purpose of this plan is to identify and assess the Reservation’s natural hazard risks (such as earthquake, flooding, landslides, and wildfires) and determine how to best minimize or manage those risks. Upon completion, this plan will be presented to the Tribe for adoption and then submitted to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for review and approval.
This survey provides an opportunity for you to share your opinions and participate in the mitigation planning process. The information you provide will help us better understand your hazard concerns and can lead to mitigation activities that should help lessen the impacts of future disasters. Participation in this survey is voluntary and none of the information you provide will be attributed to you directly.
The Pala Band of Mission Indians and the Pala Environmental Department are updating their FEMA approved Hazard Mitigation Plan. This plan serves as a strategy for reducing current and future risk to the Tribe and enables the Tribe to leverage Federal funding sources to prevent damages from natural hazards such as wildfires, power outages, and floods.
- Help us by sharing your ideas for reducing risk on the Pala Reservation.
- Get involved to make Pala safer.
- Help us prepare for power outages, wildfires, flooding, extreme heat, drought, pandemics, and more.
