Darold Wallick is the Air Quality Specialist for the Pala Band of Mission Indians and has worked in the Pala Environmental Department since 2014.

He oversees the Clean Air Act program and monitors ambient air quality on the Pala Indian Reservation.

Pala’s Clean Air Act program is 100% funded by the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Air Act 105 grant (CAA 105). The air program also occasionally receives both state and federal grant funding for additional air quality projects beyond what is funded by CAA 105. 

Darold’s tasks include but are not limited to monitoring, analyzing, and regulating air quality by collecting samples, inspecting pollution sources, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws; developing and implementing air quality management plans, quality assurance project plans, standard operating procedures, preparing technical reports, and providing expert guidance to the Pala Executive Committee and the Pala community on how to reduce pollution; providing technical assistance and education through outreach to neighboring tribes and the community; and attending annual meetings and trainings to obtain the latest information on keeping the air program up to date and sharing new discoveries with PED staff.
